Join local author and illustrator, Margo Connolly-Masson, for a behind-the-scenes look at her newest children’s picture book, Everything, All Around, You. Margo will guide you through the creation of this beautiful and thoughtful book, from its start in Katie Mannix’s dining room, to its growth in a third grade classroom, to finding its home at Briley & Baxter Publications. Everything, All Around, You ties in many aspects of our local community, and it will be a treat to explore Margo’s thoughtful writing and illustrations. She will bring her original illustrations and drafts of the book, and will share photos and stories from her visits with local school children. This event will be engaging for adults and children.
About Margo: Margo Connolly-Masson is an artist, author, and educator living in Fairhaven, MA. She aims to express the vibrancy, texture, and personality of her community through art and is inspired by both the natural environment and the human population that she is part of. A "successful" creative piece for Margo is one that garners a reaction of recognition and personal attachment from a viewer. She wants people to see their neighborhoods, schools, friends, and natural environments in her art and writing.
Margo consistently uses art to connect with schools, summer camps, libraries, community groups, and individuals. She has designed and facilitated arts and literacy programming for hundreds of youth and families in the Greater New Bedford region and the South Shore. She is the author and illustrator of And Then…Glen! and Everything, All Around, You.
