Susan Frances Morris is the award-winning author of a memoir titled The Sensitive One, published by She Writes Press in August 2021. Foreword Review awarded The Sensitive One the 2021 Gold Winner for autobiography and memoir.
About The Sensitive One
The Sensitive One is a braided memoir that alternates between my childhood, as a sensitive child and then teenager who shouldered the burden of caring for my younger siblings as my dad's alcoholism tore at the threads of our home life, and an adult who for a decade-plus has been living a trauma-free life with a caring husband and rewarding career in nursing . . . only to be diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Sensitive One is a story that asks: Did the stress in my childhood (ACE's, adverse childhood experiences) contribute to my breast cancer diagnosis? Did it contribute to my panic attacks, anxiety, and eventual depression diagnosis?
